在读《红与黑》的过程中给我印象最为深刻的就是于连的心理活动。通篇几乎对于连的所思所想都进行了深刻的刻画，通过于连的所思于他所表现给外人看的大部分是截然不同。随着于连对自己伪装的极致，他的人生也逐渐达到人生的巅峰状态。与此形成鲜明对比的反而是于连生命最后在监狱度过的日子，他大胆的并且坦诚的向德。莱纳夫人表明自己真情实感，包括他以前最不耻提起的懦弱的情感。但是，我们不得不承认此时身为阶下囚的于连却是最幸福的。于连也渐渐让我们明白平凡是一种幸福。
于连的不幸其实本可以挽救，但是他对于许多事情的错误的认识让他当发现自己错的离谱的时候，已经无力改变了。让我们设想一下，如果于连能真心体会到德。莱纳夫人的爱，并且肯定自己对于这为善良纯洁夫人的真爱，他的一生或许可以和德。莱纳夫人平凡幸福的度过；如果于连在进入真正所谓的资产阶级上流社会时，看明白对他的款待不是礼貌而是真正从骨子里的漠视时或许还可以回头；如果于连能够看明白玛蒂尔德小姐更加深爱的是自己的英雄情怀，自己的骄傲，看明白玛蒂尔德小姐刚开始与他相爱时的反复无常与眼底偶尔流露的厌恶，是不是于连的一生不会变成悲剧，而是另一番平凡幸福的场景？于连或许是不幸的，但是斯丹达尔还是心软了，让他在生命最后的时光明白了什么才是他最需要的。
在读《红与黑》的时候，即使在知道于连可能爱上了马蒂尔德小姐也从不曾敢想象原来结束于连的`疯狂是他举起枪想要杀死德。莱纳夫人的时候。于连想要杀死这位纯洁、善良的曾经的爱人。还好，德。莱纳夫人并没有死去，否则于连的余生不会再感受到幸福了。
